Building a Twitter following

I feel it’s time to take a look at Twitter and discover why it’s needed to help with your online presence.

·       -460,000 is the average number of new accounts per day created in February, 2011

·       -182% is the increase in number of mobile users over the past year.

·       -In March 2011 there are an estimated 225 million users

·      - 25 billion tweets sent on Twitter in 2010

·       -It had 400,000 tweets posted per quarter in 2007

·      - 140 million is the average number of tweets people sent per day in February 2011

With these facts placed in front of you, it is clear to see how Twitter is an important tool for helping your business expand in the online marketing world.

But it’s really not that simple. To make your twitter updates worthwhile you need to build up a following and a reputation, you also need to encourage your followers to spread the word about your online name. Easier said then done I assure you.

Depending on your product/services there are different ways to maximize your twitter followers, this can involve status updates relevant to your location, fun facts, gossip or re-tweeting (Repeating a status off someone else) from someone with a high following. Of course there is more and I could elaborate, but that would be telling you all my secrets.

Know your target audience and think as a human not a business, and you will discover the way to attract followers then you can use one of your daily updates to advertise your company, promotions or services. I know it’s a lot to think about, it’s basically a full time job, that’s why here at Trendy Websites we handle all your social media, your SEO and the website design & development.

The User-friendly Website

What is a user friendly website?

In hot spots we've done a lot of research and looked at what your customers this. When it comes to Web sites, it is a very complicated situation, everyone enjoys them stand out, be different attention. But it is important to remember the basic rule, should be easy to use.

A user-friendly website means your clients, friends, clients and visitors in general can navigate your site easily. Everything is in front of them, know exactly where to go for information they need. How to do this? This is the tricky part, especially if you want to be different.

Navigation is important for websites, research has shown that users can place their mouse, where they wait, links, images and buttons to be before they are loaded. If it takes a user for some time to find what they want, they'll leave your site and go elsewhere. FACT. So we think that should be your links in a generic position, which currently runs along the top or bottom of the left side.

Now you have to make sure you have everything their customers want to see and read, may have some surprising information about their products, but make sure they are accurate, users will not read the text on the wall. Simple and brief.

The imagery is what attracts and holds our attention, spend some time and money on your photos, they are what will sell your product and make sure they are clear and visible on your site.

There are many more you need to know to make your use of the website user friendly, but first and foremost, it is practical, look at other sites and find what works, not works, and what other places have in common. If everyone does something one way, so clearly the way to work.

Do not get me wrong, sometimes it works to add something different and unique, just make sure it is not too much, and it is not going to drive customers away!

QR CODES – An in depth look

We thought we would take a better look into QR codes and how they can help your business. Quick Response codes (QR codes) and other two dimensional codes (as previously stated) are going to be big, and will open up new opportunities for businesses to market themselves. Giving consumers immediate access to what’s relevant and what your business wants the consumer to know.

As previously mentioned, the best way to describe a QR code is by describing it as similar to a barcode. The main difference between the two is the amount of data and information that can be stored and shared. The QR codes can hold significantly more data making them perfect for business to market themselves.

They basically work by scanning/reading the QR code with your phone (any smartphone with a camera). Depending on the code hidden in the QR ‘image’ your phone will now link to any digital content on the web, activate certain phone functions, such as emails, IM and connect to the web browser. This will enable people to share company website addresses more effectively, share adverts easier and keep their consumers up-to-date with relevant information. Magazines could be bought by QR codes?

Where

QR Codes could be used:
The back (or front and back) of your business card.
Your brochures and other marketing materials.
The sides of trucks and trailers.
Product tags and packaging
Convention and event nametags
Restaurant menus
Event ticket stubs
Point-of-sale receipts

What

QR Codes could link to:

Installation instructions
Sources for replacement parts and service
Directions to your business
The process for hiring your professional services
Valuable coupons and special offers
Recommendations for complementary products and services
Free mp3 downloads
Customer feedback forms

How

You can you maximize your effectiveness with QR codes:
Provide explanations about their use and benefits
Encourage actions that support your marketing plan
Assuage the fears of the technically challenged
Give reasons to come back
Experiment with the size, location, and color of your QR codes
Study your analytics
Make the process fun, such as a QR code scavenger hunt
Experiment

Interactive Marketing?

Trendy websites recently tweeted about interactive billboards, in which people would walk past a seemingly still image that would then interact with them, either by socially, sound or encouraging them to participate in a game and in the case of McDonalds, they wanted people to take pictures of their billboard when certain items where up and in return would get a free version of what ever they managed to snap! QUICK VIEW

This works, and it works well, it keeps your audience engaged and watching your advertisement for longer then they would normally, allowing you to advertise your products and/or services.

Something Trendy is trying to get on board with is the QR codes and ‘String’. A lot of you may have heard of the QR codes, little squares of black and white that when you hover over with your phone, will take you to a website, image, vide or something similar. Great for business cards right? Easy and simple and we think this will work really well, it’s surprising how it’s not caught on.

Some people have already taken this one step further and enabled phones to recognize certain images, which allows for still posters to be ‘hovered’ over and turned into a interactive game, feature, video...pretty much anything. The marketing world is soon going to be changing and revolving around mobiles even more so then it does now, and we want to help you get ready for it!

Social Networking for Your Business

Here at Trendy Websites we know your business demands all of your time, so who is there to help advertise your brand online? Well…we are, we’re the most cost effective way of getting your brand out there, successfully!

This method works because social networking sites have integrated themselves with search engines. You search a name in Google and you now get their Facebook profile page, their latest twitter updates and soon…the Google+ videos.  It’s basically extra SEO!

Twitter offers a fantastic specific search engine; so you can search by location, key wording or phrases. This makes it a GREAT way of advertising your name through engaging updates and informative status’.
Facebook is where we focus our interaction with your clients and fans; It’s almost like a page full of reviews. We pack it full of images, information and interactive options, such as a mini site and competitions. Encouraging clients to leave reviews, share their pictures of your products/services and let the users update your profile for you.

LinkedIn we use for certain clients, it’s basically a good way to advertise between other businesses, we can join groups relevant to your company and advertise what your company is looking for, or offering. Great for B2B communications.

Google+ has yet to be released, however we are working very hard to keep on top of the new features and how it will work for our clients. It’s almost a cross between Facebook and LinkedIn…just with more! Google+’s main feature will be its capacity for video communications. Imagine having a meeting with several people, from home, answering and asking questions as if standing next to them, and of course with video? You can have online lessons, Q&A and so much more. You will be able to share videos of your work with anyone and everyone, these will be added to Google search engines just because they are on Google+, get these videos watched and they will spread around the online network like wild fire. We are providing videos for companies now to help with this new form of networking, we provide three different options. Animation, using hand drawn images in a short advertisement, promo videos for events, in which speed is increased (time lapse) and finally virtual tours, so people can see your venue/property for a 360-degree view. Great for venue hire.
